Patchwork Bunny Coaster

As it is spring time and Easter is coming, I have plans in mind to make something related. I like adding some to my house decoration. I have made this Patchwork Bunny Coaster, perfect for Easter, springtime, actually for anytime especially for those who love bunnies.

This is a little sewing project with a lot of fun. The lively colors of spring will fill you with energy. This patchwork bunny has floppy ears and pompom tail. This is a quick project to make in a few hours. You can use your scraps with favourite colors.

I have made this bunny coaster with yellow and orange patterned fabrics. I also prepared a tutorial and share the bunny coaster pattern free. Just choose your favourite scraps, download the pattern and start doing it.

Step-by-step Tutorial

  • First of all you need to make patchwork side of the bunny. For this, cut 15 pieces of 2"x2" squares.
  • Layout the squares in a way that you like the appearance.
  • Sew the squares together in rows. Then sew the rows together.
  • Now the front piece is ready. Cut another piece of fabric for the back of the coaster and cut a piece of batting.
  • Lay the template on the wrong side of the background fabric and draw around the template. You can download it HERE for free.
  • Before sewing them together, we prapare the ears. Lay the template on fabric and draw around it. Place batting and two pieces of fabric right sides together. Sew along the line, leaving an opening to turn the ears inside out. Cut the exess pieces around the sewn line and turn inside out.

  • Make three layer; batting first, patchwork piece on it and background fabric, right sides together. The drawn piece will be on top. Pin the three pieces together and cut the exess pieces away with scissors. Place the eard to the head of the bunny. The ears will be inside.
  • Sew along the drawn line. Do not forget to leave an opening to turn it inside out.

When you finish sewing, turn it inside out and sew the opening by hand. And you have already finished it! It is so lovely, isn't it?
